Dell’s Alienware announces the release of three new gaming laptops. The soon to be released M18x, DELL’s flagship laptop, is said to be “the most powerful 18-inch gaming laptop in the universe,” while M14x and M11x targeting users who prioritize mobility and compactness. All three platforms offer the latest in gaming technology and feature second-generation Intel Core i processors to deliver the most immersive high-performance gaming experience imaginable. Shares are trading slightly on the upside, up 0.29% at $14.75.

With the rapid advances in technology today, much to the chagrin of many, it sometimes seems as though a laptop is declared obsolete three weeks after it is purchased. While techies seem to upgrade their laptops every time Steve Jobs holds a press conference, the vast majority of laptop users wait a number of years before reinvesting in a laptop by upgrading to a new model. However, when it does come time to take the plunge and start to look for a new laptop, there are a number of things for consumers to keep in mind. The first of these things is price, and while a new laptop is going to be expensive, it is important for consumers to factor in the resale value of their used laptop when upgrading to a new one. In order to recoup some of the cost of a new laptop, many consumers sell old laptops for cash prior to purchasing a new one. To sell laptops for cash, consumers should seek out a used computer dealer and obtain a quote. Once consumers have received a quote for their old laptops, they can either increase the amount available for their upgrade, or simply save the extra cash that they earn by selling their old computer.

After consumers have figured out their budget, and have decided to sell their laptops for cash before upgrading, they should determine which features they need, versus which features would be nice, but are not necessary. Consumers who need a laptop for work will generally need a more powerful laptop, with more features, than those who use their laptop for school or simply for personal use. Prospective buyers should note the features available in laptops within their determined budget, and divide these features into those that are absolutely necessary, the desired but not necessary, and ones that are not important.
